I am a 22-year-old trainee journalist from Cardiff, South Wales. I come from a mixed back ground, my mother grew up in Mauritius with strict Creole Catholic parents. My father was raised in Sri Lanka in a strict Hindu family, he met my mother whilst at university in Newport. Married for over 30 years, my parents divorced recently, which has had a major impact on my own love life. Despite their parents warnings and reservations they married in their early 20’s. They have shown me the problems of interacial/ interfaith marriage and why often it can not work. This cultural confusion, or you could say identity crisis while growing up has pushed me towards finding potential love matches with a strong identity, culture and religion.
My parents raised myself and my older sister typically British, leaving us feeling very disconnected with our roots. This is proving a problem for both us, now we are both looking for potential Asian husbands.
If you can match how complicated my life is I would love to hear about it!
I’m a 23-year-old trainee journalist, currently completing my MA International Journalism from City University, London.
I come from a multi-cultural background, being of Indian origin, born and brought up in Kashmir during the political turmoil between India and Pakistan. Then I moved to Dubai for my under-graduate degree during the political unrest in the Middle East. Being brought up in unstable societies always led me into writing and researching hard news topics.
But this time I wanted to write about some light-hearted topics that I have always been interested in, but never had the time. I’m using this blog as a platform for it. Hope I manage to engage my readers and get constructive feedback to improve.
